What are you doing as a Peace Corps Volunteer?
I’m serving as an English Language Facilitator (ELF).
How long is your Peace Corps term?
27 months. August 2017 – November 2019. The first three months, starting at the end of August 2017, are in-country training. There is also an option to serve an additional year.
How did you get involved in Peace Corps?
After graduating college, I served a year as an AmeriCorps VISTA. Halfway through my term, I submitted my Peace Corps application on December 25, 2016. Now, we’re here!
Did you connect with a Peace Corps recruiter?
I did not, but according to Peace Corps, if you connect with a recruiter, you are 55% more likely to be accepted.
What is your academic background?
I graduated from James Madison University with a B.S. in Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication with minors in Nonprofit Studies and Humanitarian Affairs.
Where are you from?
Woodbridge, Virginia. My parents immigrated from India in the late 1980s (nearly 30 years ago!) and the rest is history.
