Why I Joined the Peace Corps

“Once you find yourself in another civilization, you’re forced to examine your own.”

-James Baldwin

I joined the Peace Corps…

…to help America.

…to exchange experiences and cultures.

…to observe the world in a new way.

…to serve directly and indirectly.

…to remember that little acts go a long way.

…to create sustainability.

…to ingrain in myself, sustainable behavior.

…to be fully immersed in a culture as a friend.

…to represent the United States.

…to bring what I learn back to the states.

…to gain confidence.

…to feel challenged.

…to become a better version of who I am.

…to continue to live happily.

…to live by helping others live.
